What school cleaning covers
A typical school cleaning programme covers the following areas. Scope and frequencies are agreed in writing before work starts.
Classrooms and teaching spaces
Floors, surfaces, boards and high-touch furniture cleaned after the school day and before pupils and staff arrive the following morning.
Corridors and stairwells
High-traffic circulation areas vacuumed or mopped on every visit to manage the dirt and footfall of a busy school building.
Washrooms
Toilets, basins, taps and fixtures sanitised consistently, with consumable replenishment where supplies are managed within the contract.
Canteens and dining areas
Tables, seating, serving points and flooring cleaned after each sitting in line with food hygiene expectations and your site procedures.
Staff rooms and offices
Staff kitchens, rest areas and administration offices included on the agreed schedule alongside pupil-facing zones.
Sports and changing facilities
Changing rooms, showers and sports hall floors cleaned where included in scope, with frequencies matched to timetable and lettings use.
Scheduling around school hours
We plan around school hours, holiday periods and examination timetables so visits do not disrupt teaching. Early starts, evenings after lettings, or blended patterns across the week are all discussed during setup.
- Term-time schedule: regular daily or weekly visits during teaching weeks, with holiday and examination provisions agreed upfront
- Holiday deep cleans: additional scope during shutdown windows quoted separately where governors or facilities leads require it
- Consumables: restocking of paper, soap and hand sanitiser can be written into the schedule alongside cleaning tasks
- AccessNI checks can be arranged where your policy requires contractor vetting for people working on the premises
- COSHH information available for all products used on site, aligned to your health and safety records
Governors and principals know when teams are on site
We discuss access windows, safeguarding expectations and any site rules with the principal or facilities lead before the contract starts. Teams are briefed on your procedures so first visits run the same as any other.
If your school has multiple buildings, sports halls, multi-use games areas or community lettings, we factor these into the schedule so coverage stays consistent without gaps between contracted zones.
How RexCleaning works
Every school cleaning contract starts with a site walkthrough. We review the building and calendar together before agreeing any scope.
- 01
Site walkthrough
We visit to review the building layout, room types, term calendar and lettings programme before agreeing any scope.
- 02
Scope and schedule agreed
Tasks, frequencies, holiday provisions and examination windows are confirmed in writing before work starts.
- 03
Team inducted
Access, alarm codes, safeguarding expectations and site rules are confirmed before the first visit so teams arrive prepared.
- 04
Regular cleaning
Cleaning runs to the agreed timetable with the same team where practical and named escalation if something needs attention.
- 05
Standards reviewed
Service levels are monitored and the schedule revisited at the start of each term or when your building arrangements change.
School types we work with
School cleaning is appropriate for any education setting. Scope, frequency and safeguarding arrangements are tailored to your school.
Primary schools
Smaller buildings with high pupil-to-surface ratios, shorter sessions and close-range contact surfaces that need frequent attention.
Secondary schools and colleges
Larger, multi-building sites with specialist rooms, sixth-form areas and more complex timetables that shape cleaning windows.
Multi-site and academy groups
Consistent standards across several schools with a single account contact, co-ordinated scheduling and shared documentation.
Schools with community lettings
Sites used by outside organisations in evenings and weekends, where the cleaning schedule must account for extended occupation.
